Founded by Marc Jones in 2022, The Layman Group is built on over 24 years of independent experience in the transportation and logistics world. Our journey began in 1996, when Marc moved from Ohio to Georgia and started working as a helper with a moving company in Marietta. By 1999, he earned his Commercial Driver's License and, in 2001, launched his career as an independent Owner-Operator. His business quickly grew into a fleet carrier operation, where he forged and maintained strong relationships with brokers and shippers.

Inspired by his insights into brokerage operations, Marc founded a brokerage firm in the early 2000s, which opened the door to building global connections. Today, The Layman Group operates as a full-service global logistics agency, offering expertise across all modes of transportation, including warehousing.

Our team is committed to helping new and struggling carriers, brokerages, Owner-Operators, and industry newcomers, including those looking to break into freight sales. We bring a wealth of knowledge, practical insights, and tools that we wish we had when we first started. With a reputation for consistently exceptional service, we pride ourselves on building strong relationships and being a trusted partner for our clients.
